Abstract

Tidal swamp irrigation management faces complex challenges due to hydrological dynamics, fluctuations in water quality (pH and salinity), and limitations of manual operating systems. This article presents a systematic literature review (SLR) on the development of the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) optimization model of swamp irrigation networks with the integration of hydroinformatics technology. Using the PRISMA protocol, this study reviewed the literature from reputable databases (Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar) in the 2015-2025 time frame. The results of the review show a methodological shift from conventional rule-based approaches towards IoT-based decision-making systems, real-time sensors, and advanced optimization algorithms such as MILP and NMPC. Key findings identify research gaps in the integration of multi-criteria optimization models that bring together aspects of agricultural production, energy efficiency, and wetland environmental protection in near real-time. This article provides a roadmap for the development of future decision support systems (DSS) for swamp irrigation, especially in the context of tidal lands in Indonesia.
