Government regulation plays a strategic role in maintaining macroeconomic stability and overseeing market mechanisms amid global economic dynamics, inflationary pressures, and the rising potential for market failure. This study aims to examine the role of government regulation as an economic stabilizer and market supervisor from a macroeconomic perspective, while analyzing its implications for national economic stability. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review (library research) approach, data collection was conducted through documentation and literary studies sourced from books, scientific journals, policy documents, and reports from national and international economic institutions. The data were then analyzed systematically through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that government regulation—through fiscal policy, monetary policy, business competition oversight, and financial sector regulation—positively influences inflation control, economic growth enhancement, unemployment reduction, and consumer protection. Furthermore, the study finds that effective regulation can foster economic stability and increase public trust in the market. Nonetheless, overly stringent regulations have the potential to create market distortions and hinder investment. Overall, this study contributes to strengthening macroeconomic literature regarding the importance of government intervention in maintaining modern market equilibrium. For future research, it is recommended to employ an empirical approach to yield a more in-depth and comprehensive analysis.
