This study aims to map the development of trends in Islamic education research from a socio-historical perspective, identify social factors influencing its transformation, and analyze the relationship between historical dynamics and contemporary Islamic education practices. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review approach with PRISMA, analyzing 37 selected scientific articles from Scopus (2017-2026). Data analysis was conducted with the help of RStudio and VOSviewer to identify trends, publication distribution, and thematic clusters. The results show that publication trends have experienced dynamic development with an increasing trend, although fluctuating. The identified core cluster is Islamic education. In addition, there are 17 supporting clusters covering Islamic educational institutions, religious organizations, pedagogy, higher education, values and beliefs, educational policy, technology and digital learning, social change, identity, globalization, comparative education, community engagement, gender and social inclusion, academic freedom, and historical analysis. The Islamic education cluster is the most dominant and serves as a cross-cluster link. The transformation of Islamic education is influenced by the local context, government policies, academic orientation, and the structure of knowledge production. The relationship between historical dynamics and contemporary Islamic educational practices demonstrates a continuing interconnectedness, although many studies still tend to examine it fragmentarily. This research contributes to providing a comprehensive mapping and thematic synthesis of the development of Islamic educational studies from a socio-historical perspective, while strengthening the multidisciplinary approach in this study. The main limitation of this research lies in the use of data sourced solely from the Scopus database, thus not fully representing the development of Islamic educational studies globally. Therefore, further research is recommended to utilize reputable international databases such as Web of Science, EBSCO, ERIC, JSTOR, and Dimensions.
