Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic philanthropy-based strategic management in improving access to education and to develop an innovative “No Fees Are No Barrier” model in an Islamic higher education institution. It employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design and a model development orientation. The study was conducted at IAI Al-Urwatul Wutsqo Jombang. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving institutional leaders, finance and philanthropy managers, lecturers, and students. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that educational justice serves as the main strategic foundation of the institution, while zakat, waqf, infaq, and alms function as the core financing system rather than supplementary funding. This policy expanded access to higher education for economically disadvantaged groups, increased student motivation, and strengthened institutional governance integration. However, the sustainability of the model depends on public trust, transparent fund management, institutional capacity, and academic quality assurance. The study proposes an integrative, inclusive, and sustainable conceptual model of Islamic philanthropy-based strategic management for higher education.
