Abstrak

Communication crisis, characterized by low speaking skills and courage (maharah al-kalam), is a fundamental problem in Arabic language learning in madrasas. This study aims to test the significance and analyze the effectiveness of the Talk and Dare method in improving oral communication skills (maharah kalam) and building the courage of 7A grade students at MTsN 9 Banyuwangi in speaking Arabic. This method combines speaking exercises (talk) with communicative challenges (dare) to create active and communicative learning. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design on 27 students. The data collection instrument was a speaking skills test administered before and after the intervention. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and a paired samples t-test for comparison, with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings indicate a highly significant improvement: the average score increased from 47.63 (low) to 82.52 (high). The hypothesis test yielded a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming statistical effectiveness. It is concluded that the Talk and Dare method is effective in overcoming communication crises by improving students' linguistic competence (fluency and accuracy) as well as psychological competence (courage and self-confidence). This method is recommended as an innovative strategy to transform Arabic language learning into being more student-centered and focused on functional communicative competence.

Abstrak

Krisis komunikasi, yang ditandai dengan rendahnya keterampilan berbicara dan keberanian (maharah al-kalam), adalah masalah mendasar dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab di madrasah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji signifikansi dan menganalisis efektivitas metode Talk and Dare dalam meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi lisan (maharah kalam) dan membangun keberanian siswa kelas 7A di MTsN 9 Banyuwangi dalam berbicara bahasa Arab. Metode ini menggabungkan latihan berbicara (talk) dengan tantangan komunikatif (dare) untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang aktif dan komunikatif. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental satu kelompok pretest-posttest pada 27 siswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah tes keterampilan berbicara yang dilakukan sebelum dan setelah intervensi. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif dan uji t sampel berpasangan untuk perbandingan, dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS. Temuan menunjukkan peningkatan yang sangat signifikan: skor rata-rata meningkat dari 47,63 (rendah) menjadi 82,52 (tinggi). Uji hipotesis menghasilkan signifikansi sebesar 0.000 (p < 0.05), yang mengonfirmasi efektivitas statistik. Disimpulkan bahwa metode Talk and Dare efektif dalam mengatasi krisis komunikasi dengan meningkatkan kompetensi linguistik siswa (kelancaran dan ketepatan) serta kompetensi psikologis (keberanian dan kepercayaan diri). Metode ini direkomendasikan sebagai strategi inovatif untuk mengubah pembelajaran bahasa Arab menjadi lebih berpusat pada siswa dan fokus pada kompetensi komunikatif fungsional.
