Conflicts of Interest
Authors are required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that may influence, or be perceived to influence, the conduct of research, the interpretation of findings, or the publication of manuscripts in Tawazun: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam. A conflict of interest arises when personal, professional, academic, financial, commercial, or other interests could compromise, or reasonably be perceived to compromise, the objectivity and integrity of the research and publication process. Financial interests may include employment, research funding, share ownership, patents, honoraria, travel support, consultancy fees, or other financial relationships. Non-financial interests, including personal relationships, academic affiliations, professional commitments, and institutional interests, should also be disclosed when relevant. The perception of a conflict of interest is important because both actual and perceived conflicts may undermine trust in scholarly publications. Any questions regarding potential conflicts of interest should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief of Tawazun: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam.
During manuscript submission, the corresponding author must disclose any relevant conflicts of interest on behalf of all co-authors. Authors may recommend potential reviewers who possess appropriate expertise in the subject of the manuscript. However, the suggested reviewers must not be co-authors of the submitted manuscript, must not have prior access to or knowledge of the manuscript that could compromise the double-blind peer-review process, and must not have any actual or potential conflicts of interest with the authors. The Editors retain full discretion in selecting reviewers and are not obligated to accept the authors’ recommendations.
Authors must not attempt to influence the selection of Editors or Reviewers in ways that could compromise the fairness, independence, or confidentiality of the peer-review process. Any actual or potential conflicts of interest involving the corresponding author or any co-author must be disclosed. Examples of circumstances that may constitute conflicts of interest include:
a. An author and a nominated Editor or Reviewer are affiliated with the same institution in circumstances that may affect impartiality.
b. An author is a current member of the Editorial Board of Tawazun: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam.
c. An author and a nominated Editor or Reviewer are currently collaborating on another manuscript, research project, or academic publication.
d. An author has a personal, professional, financial, or institutional relationship with a nominated Editor or Reviewer that could reasonably be perceived to influence the review process.
Authors must not nominate individuals whom they know have already read, reviewed, or provided substantive comments on the submitted manuscript or a previous version of it, where such prior involvement could compromise the journal’s double-blind peer-review process. All conflicts of interest must be disclosed transparently so that the Editors can take appropriate measures to ensure an independent, objective, and ethical publication process.
