Research Misconduct
Research Misconduct
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, and plagiarism in the conduct, evaluation, or reporting of research and in the preparation of scholarly manuscripts. Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their submissions to Tawazun: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam.
When allegations of research misconduct or other serious irregularities arise in relation to submitted or published articles, the Editors of Tawazun: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam are responsible for safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. Suspected cases of misconduct will be handled in accordance with the best practices and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Manuscripts found to involve research misconduct will be rejected. If misconduct is identified in a published article, the journal may issue a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial notice, which will be linked to the original publication.
The initial stage of handling an allegation involves assessing its validity and determining whether the alleged conduct falls within the definition of research misconduct. The Editors will also consider whether the individuals making the allegation have any relevant conflicts of interest.
If the allegation suggests possible research misconduct or other substantial irregularities, the corresponding author will be contacted and asked to provide a detailed response on behalf of all co-authors. Following receipt and evaluation of the response, the Editors may seek further review or consult relevant experts, including statistical or methodological reviewers, where appropriate. If the evidence indicates that misconduct is unlikely to have occurred, the matter may be resolved through clarification, additional analysis, or a correction notice, as appropriate to the circumstances.
Tawazun: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam expects relevant institutions to conduct appropriate and thorough investigations into allegations of research misconduct. Authors, editors, reviewers, and institutions share responsibility for maintaining the accuracy, credibility, and integrity of the scholarly record. Based on the findings of an investigation, the journal will take appropriate action, which may include issuing corrections, publishing a retraction with a replacement where justified, or retracting the article. These measures are intended to uphold publication ethics and maintain the trustworthiness of scholarly research in Islamic education.
